Former Stoke Mandeville employee Jackie Bailey and spine injury wheelchair user tests and reviews our Sky line range at CETEC, Barnet and Southgate College
“I couldn’t believe how smooth and quick this stair climber was to get me up and down several flights of stairs. It felt secure and stable"
Jackie Bailey sustained a spinal cord injury in 1980 and has been a fulltime wheelchair user since then. For many years she worked at Stoke Mandeville Spinal Injuries Centre supporting new injuries and signposting them to other organisations and companies that may be able to provide alternative solutions to the problems they come up against. Consequently, over the years she has liaised with the Assistive Technology suites run by Firas Sarhan at both Bucks New University, and more recently at Barnet and Southgate College, to organise focus groups and trial sessions of new equipment on the market. Having used an alternative stair-climber at her friend’s house in Austria she was delighted to be asked to trial and demonstrate an alternative one to the market.
